Not every version of you is meant to stay with you forever.
2025 may be gone, yet, for a little while longer, we’ll be journeying into the year of the Snake. This means we’re still completing our transformation, shedding old skin and unlearning.
Snakes shed their old skin because it can no longer grow with them. As the snake grows, a new skin-layer forms underneath. The old layer suddenly becomes too tight, dull and worn, so the snake sheds it through a meaningful process.
Shedding old skin helps the snake to:
Grow – removing the tight skin makes room for a larger body
Stay healthy – it removes parasites
Heal – minor cuts, scars and damaged scales come off with the old skin
See clearly – every the eye caps are shed which restores sharp vision
Before shedding, a snake often looks dull, and its eyes turn cloudy. After a few days, the old skin comes off, leaving the snake fresh and shiny underneath. In short, the snake sheds because its old skin is worn out and too small, and a new, better one emerges already formed underneath the surface.
See, for the snake, release is a form of faith – faith in what exists beneath a worn out, old surface; faith in the new that has just arrived from within. Before the snake can clearly see, it trusts.
In time, release becomes the snake’s prayer – a quiet trust In what it cannot yet see.
The same exact thing can happen to us – spiritually and energetically.
We outgrow things, people, or circumstances. Versions of our own selves, as well. Our world as we know it – in or out – starts feeling hectic, too tight, suffocating even.
As we transition, in the process of transformation we too may feel dull, dizzy, or confused. We’re getting ready to shake off the old because something new and vibrant breathes under the surface – not far away from us, but right from within us.
When it’s time, we gracefully – or vividly – outgrow what simply expired and embody our new skin – new energy, choices, mindset, belief system, people or life conditions.
While previously giddy and shaky, now we feel revived and seeing clearly once again.
See, the snake goes through multiple rebirths, and so do we.
In this process, remember – release is another form of faith.
Don’t rush this, those last few steps are precious.
